The Deputy Governor responsible for Markets at the South African Reserve Bank Mr Daniel Mminele recently spent a day engaging with the Durban business community and UKZN students about what drives the Reserve Bank’s economic policies.
The visit which was facilitated by the School of Accounting and Economics and Finance started with a business breakfast meeting where Mminele gave an overview of the South African Economy to industry champions.
The second stage of the visit saw Mminele deliver a public lecture titled: “Inflation Targeting and Monetary Policy through the Crisis “ , at the University’s Westville and Pietermaritzburg campuses.
The public lectures created a platform for students to broaden their knowledge of the county’s economy and make a connection between theory and practice.
Mminele was impressed by the students keen knowledge of the South African economy which demonstrated their academic potential.
Through strategic partnership between the School and the South African Reserve Bank more events that encourage responsible community engagement are anticipated.
