Examiner’s Workshop Empowers Staff to Deliver Quantitate and Quality Research

Staff from the College of Law and Management Studies recently exchanged ideas on elevating the quality of the examination process which is beneficial to both examiners and students in order to ensure the advancement of excellence in research.
The examiners workshop, created an interactive platform for staff to engage on the principles, policies and methodologies involved in the examination process through covering topics such as Ethics, Principles of Quality Assurance and the University’s Policies on the examination process.
The group was addressed by speakers such Professor Damtew Teferra from the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Higher Education Unit; UKZN’s Director of Quality Promotion and Assurance: Dr Luvuyo Lalendle; UKZN’s Director of Postgraduate Studies from the College Postgraduate Admin Office; Research Capacity Development: Dr Nthabiseng Motsemme; Chairperson UKZN’s Ethics Committee: Dr Shenuka Singh, Academic Leader Research: Law Professor Marita Carnelley and College Postgraduate Admin Office Ms Smangele Ninela, College Dean of Teaching and Learning Professor Kriben Pillay, Post-doctoral Fellow Dr Brett Van Niekerk and Professor Michael Samuel from the School of Education to give a well-rounded perspective on the process.
