The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) will be hosting the annual UKZN Spring Graduation Ceremonies on 11 and 12 September 2019 at the Sports Centre on the UKZN Westville Campus. The ceremonies are held mostly for graduands who have completed their studies between April and August each year. UKZN will confer degrees on 1977 graduands, 60% percent of whom are women.
Renowned Human Rights Lawyer and former Public Protector of South Africa, Professor Thulisile “Thuli” Madonsela will receive an Honorary Doctorate from UKZN. The Chancellor of UKZN, Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng will confer on her the *Honorary Doctor of Laws degree on Thursday, 12 September 2019 at 10 am. Madonsela is being recognised for her outstanding contribution to the betterment of South African society.
University Management is especially proud of the 3 summa cum laude and 30 cum laude graduands who have completed their studies with distinction.
UKZN will award 1 007 undergraduate and 970 postgraduate degrees. There are 555 master’s and 234 doctoral students. 186 of the graduands are International students.
A total of 875 degrees will be conferred in the College of Humanities, 584 in the College of Law and Management Studies, 315 in the College of Agriculture, Engineering and Science, and 203 in the College of Health Sciences.
